Emergency Procedures

How Will I Be Notified in the Event of An Emergency or Weather-Related Closing?

West Platte School District utilizes a telephone broadcast system that enables District personnel to notify all households and parents by phone within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event that causes early dismissal or school cancellation. This service may also be used from time to time to communicate general announcements or reminders. This service is provided by SchoolMessenger, which specializes in school-to-parent communications.

When used, the service will simultaneously call all listed phone numbers in our parent contact list and will deliver a recorded message. The service will deliver the message both to live answer and answering machines.

If you are not receiving the cancellation calls, please update your contact information on PowerSchool using the guide on the "Update PowerSchool Contact Information" section below or you may log into SchoolMessenger directly and manage the notification type you wish to receive and the numbers and e-mails the school district uses to contact you by visiting: SchoolMessenger
